A never ending search

Keep striving.

Karate is a never ending search for answers. Some you will find quickly. Others may take you years to find. In either case the most important thing is to never stop looking. Do not be envious of others, or where they are on the same journey. Do not compare yourself, or your progress to theirs.

For while each of us is on a similar path, we are all meant to be moving at our own pace. And there is no reason to rush. Karate is not a race. Instead it is a lifetimes pursuit of self exploration, and a deep examination of our own individual character.

Yet never be satisfied with where you are on this journey. Ever strive to be better today than you were yesterday. Even as you age, and grow old. Even when you have lost your speed, your timing, and your flexibility. Never mind. Still strive to walk your own path to the best of your ability.

But, to do that of course, you must first know which path you yourself, are truly walking on.

Remember: “Follow in the footsteps of great teachers.”
